The largest reason for the move to Unity 5, was Unity 5's Physically Based Rendering enhancements. Unity is really putting a lot of work into making the visual quality of Unity games match that of some of the other popular engines (Unreal, etc).

That being said, there have been a few growing pains. A lot of Unity 4's plugins won't work "out of the box" with Unity 5. For the plugins we have the source code for, Jacob has been able to make adjustments. But quite a few plugins are closed source, and he can't change those. Unity has a built-in API updater for your code, but it doesn't quite catch everything.

Another huge reason for the switch is that our project is so huge, and Unity 5 offers a 64-bit editor. It's faster and crashes less often with large projects.

We will be adding more from Jacob, but wanted to get this out there and hear back from you all and see what you have discovered about Unity 5's benefits and even maybe it's shortcomings.
