Bye bye DICE scripted "Levolution", welcome No Heroes DYNAMIC MASSIVE DESTRUCTION.
Its not really dynamic. Its still just an animation that plays, same way dice does it.
But it seems to fall in different directions depending on what side you blow out.
@figalot: So there are dozens of scripted falling anims depending on where you damage the base? This seems quite expensive and pretty inconvenient to do. Source?
Honestly what I see is a different fall with different movements of the pieces in a different direction depending on how and where you critically damage the base of the tower. Can you explain and prove your statement please?
Its the unity engine. Chances are he used to a tool that recorded the physics play out then just make that into an animation. Its literally the least expensive way to do it.
Edit: just checked the asset store, this is how he did it. He made the tool to do it and released it.
syncing the physics over a network would be ridiculously expensive on bandwidth. This way when the towers legs are blown out a call is made to all players saying this has happened play this animation.
That's interesting, I didn't know that syncing the position of a dozen of models with their physics calculated by the server was ridiculously more expensive than recording, caching and playing a dozen of animations based on a system that judges the exact animation to play based on the damaged parts. Also considering that the whole game is models synced through the net I thought that a few more wouldn't have been a problem... Well this proves how good are EA and DICE at syncing a houndred of models and entities per game (players, bullets, vehicles, wrecks etc).
Those are some damn strong trees!
Very nice !
That is EPIC
It will be truly dynamic if we can still take down the remains of the building after we took the building itself down :)
Yes please :3
