I remember a friend once cleverly built a "daylight detector" involving a villager NPC that would run inside a building at night and activate a button to turn on lights for a town. (As villagers go indoors at night time.)
yer but this is more compacted and not easy to see for people making adventure maps (Eg. you could link it up to a command block to make it always night or day)
well its about gosh darn time jeb....
Wow, nice!

Why not just look at the sun?
The daylight detector turns on redstone and machines when the sun is out. Looks like it anyways.

I did that too with four villagers to power my house's interior lighting(embedded in the ceiling, was very nice) and a fake Hydroelectric dam
The redstone updates were a colossal b*tch for my CPU. With this I can now kill the villagers and simplify the circuit

I thought that was what the Clock was for o_0
The clock doesn't turn on redstone when in light.

Why would anyone care about turning on redstone with the sun?
they need to make clocks mountable on walls
Great, I can finally replace that 5x5x5 bud switch with one convenient little block. I imagine this will be more reliable as well.
