News and Updates Regarding the Development Process & Release Date.

Hello everyone! Yes it's me, I am not dead and still lurking in these mortal soil you call earth! Hehe.

Since I've buried myself to my indie game dev cave for the development process and have been silent for a while, I just wanted to give you some quick updates about it -like where am I at it, what else left to do etc.- and some info about the release date of my game.

Regarding the development things are going pretty well, and so far I haven't come across with a huge problem -fortunately- which would've slow me down. I've completed the first 4 chapters along with all the cut-scenes, enemies, boss fights, music and other level elements such as traps, treasures, mystery urns and ancient lore books. So as today, I'll start working on the 5th chapter and here are some gifs/Ss for you to check out!

Alright, so these are the chapters I've completed so far within these past 1 and half month, but what else left to do? Let's talk about that now.

As you might already know, there are 8 chapters in Maeldor, so this means that I've 4 more chapters to complete! This might sound easy, but believe me, there are lots and lots of things to do while finishing one chapter, such as implementing all the features to the levels without breaking anything within the system, re-designing enemies, working on boss fights, adding new stuff to the levels such as new art or new mechanics, composing music or making SFX, and since Maeldor is a story-driven game and I really want to support that part of the design of my game, I spent quite a good time with the cut-scenes and other story elements.

I've set September as a milestone for finishing everything within the game and spent 1 month after that, for testing to find bugs and also polishing the game, so the release date in my mind is October. But as I've told before, I am a solo developer and I do everything myself from coding to art to music etc. and believe me, it's really tough...

My philosophy about making games is giving your maximum effort to make a quality game, so for that, I wouldn't release an unfinished game even if I have to delay the release date. I believe the important thing is the experience you'll get while playing the game, so if there would be some things which bothers me, I wouldn't release the game until I solve them first.

It has been more than 2.5 years since I've started to work on Maeldor, and I hope you are as excited as I am for going on an adventure within this magical fantasy world created by my imagination! Be a strong human warrior, be a skillful elven archer or be a unique water elf and fight alongside with your water soul!
