Iktsua is a mangling of the Inuit word "Iktsuarpok". This word is untranslatable into english but means something like: "The feeling of anticipation that leads you to go outside and check if anyone is coming". The reason we chose this as the name was because the game is based on a coming of age story, where an Inuit/Eskimo boy goes into the wilderness to become a man while his family anxiously waits for his return.

The long awaited Iktsua update 1.8 is now out! Check out the awesome September Update!

Hey Yall!We have uploaded the monthly demo for Iktsua! (v0.1.8) This demo is full of tons of new features including (but not limited to!):

  • Redone camera and throwing
  • Changed menu (added logo, changed background)
  • Completely redid town (with water and ice and NPCs!)
  • Added trees
  • Added in AI interactions
  • Performance enhancements
  • Global fog
  • Added NPC chat system
  • Stopped player from moving while throwing

The biggest change here is in the village (it is totally rebuilt from the ground up) and the hunting. We totally redid the camera to allow for a lot more control. The camera is no longer fixed when you throw your spear, allowing for a much more rich dynamic, and skill based hunting system.As always, here are some screens showing off the new stuff!
