10 days gone by and still will not work. New to Desura, and am surprised by the lack of help from CS on this.

Great ---- where is that? If you mean the common file in Desura, it just directs back to to game tab in Desura.
From the Desura website select "Install Game" then click "download direct" a link should appear that you can use to download it without using the client.
little tip for you: Don't use the RTP for serious games
