Developer Highwire Games, founded by former developers of Halo and Infamous, has released new gameplay footage of its PlayStation VR exclusive title, Golem. The footage, made as part of IGN's month-long "First" coverage, showcases the ability of the protagonist - a bed-ridden girl - to shift into stone objects and control them from their perspective.
This allows her to possess a small stone doll and use it to explore otherwise inaccessible spaces under her room. Though not much happens in terms of gameplay in the above trailer, it does showcase the game's strong, atmospheric environments and sense of scale when encountering over living creatures such as insects.
Golem is controlled with the PlayStation Move, which in the above gameplay functions as a flashlight. However, in a later section, IGN reports that you can possess a much larger golem and use the controller to swing a sword using one-to-one motions.
Golem, much like the PlayStation VR headset itself, currently has no release date. However, Highwire Games has been developing Golem for over two years, and say that the game runs at 90 frames-per-second on the PlayStation VR hardware. Those are already significant milestones to hit, so we wouldn't be surprised if Sony pushes for Golem to become a PlayStation VR launch title - whenever that may be.
