This is an ancient bridge that connects existing dwarven kingdom under the mountain with another mountain peak where abandoned hall stands.
Bridge is in a good condition on the dwarven side, with houses and shacks being built, people living there, defenses mounted and guards posted... and then, it slowly turns into a ruin that barely holds together on the abandoned halls side, with otherworldly apparitions and magical enemies standing in the way.
