Well guys, here we go!
Thanks for everything so far - it's time to let anyone who wants to get into the beta jump in.
While we are asking people who want to play the game early to pre-order it, we're guaranteeing that you'll be able to get a game by offering a two-for-one deal. This means that you can definitely play the game with anyone that you want to.
Prices will be announced on the day, and you'll be able to get the game from Frozensynapse.com
There is going to be a tutorial (as well as hopefully a new tutorial vid) available to start you off. I'm also going to write some documentation and there will be experienced beta testers around to help you out when you start playing.

Also, for those people who asked, we will have both "I can see where enemies are all the time" (Light) modes and "I need line-of-sight to see an enemy" (Dark) modes available in this version.
The game is on course for a release at the end of this year (or early next depending on how things go around that time) so there is still a while to go on development. Our plan was always to open pre-orders and let people play as soon as the game looked good and played well - we have quite a bit of polishing to do (and the single player Campaign mode to work on, of course!) but everyone is enjoying playing the game so it's time to share it.
At the moment, Ian and Bin are chasing bugs and testing the server in preparation for our new players. We have a couple of other tweaks to do this week but we seem to have set things up well for a final testing phase on this version. I'm confident people will really enjoy it - our friends at Reading Uni and Nottingham, all the journalists we've unleashed on the game and everyone we have showed it to so far have got really fun first games out of it.
We will definitely be working constantly on the game, listening to your feedback and tweaking things as we go - that's the whole point of keeping the thing in development. We want to maximize the potential this game has and we're looking forward to seeing some new players - it will be amazing if people are able to pre-order and support what we're doing.

I'm not sure if I understand "Pre-order the ultimate tactical game and get immediate beta access, as well as a FREE copy for a friend..." correctly. A free beta-copy for a friend? Or a free 'gold' copy? o__0 Which sounds too good to be true, so it's probably just the beta?
To clarify: you and a friend get a beta key. On release, BOTH you AND your friend get the full version of the game. Two for one!

Oh well you gotte do better. I MIGHT consider preordering, but not without being able to play a demo or test the beta for 1-3 days for free.
Just my opinion, but im not gonna order something without having tested, regardless of beta invite AFTEr ordering.
It looks promising though, no doubts.

This pre-order is for anyone who wants to support the development of the game and play an early version, and so won't be everyone's cup of tea.
Will this be coming to steam? I really want to buy this, but if possible I'd rather get it on Steam just for the ease of keeping all my games in one place.
Unfortunately, everything to do with Steam is out of our control, so I can't currently make any guarantees about that. We would very much like to be on there.
We're working on a build to submit to Valve - if you would like to support our efforts to get the game onto Steam then the best things to do are pre-order and post a comment here - Forums.steampowered.com
