Flagship is a real-time strategy game set on a galactic scale, played from a first person perspective. The game is being built from the ground-up to be played with the Oculus Rift, though it can be played on a normal monitor as well.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the all kind words and messages of support over the last few days, it really means a lot. Our last Kickstarter update raised some questions so we'll do our best to answer those here.

The Plan

Work on Flagship will continue in our spare time, as it has done for the last year and a half. We'll be concentrating on developing the core mechanics, polishing user interfaces and improving AI. Our aim is to have a more developed pre-alpha build sometime next year, at which point we may run a second crowdfunding campaign.

A lot of this work will be under the hood, so there won't be as much to show off and updates may come less frequently, but it means we are working only on what's important to deliver a build that better demonstrates what we have planned for the game.

Any progress updates we do make will be posted here on IndieDB and on our main website flagshipgame.com, feel free to sign up to our newsletter to make sure you get the most important news. We'll post important milestones on Kickstarter too. It's too early to elaborate much beyond that, but know that we are working towards making Flagship one way or another.

Regarding Funding

We appreciate that some of you want to help us make the game and support us outside of Kickstarter, but for now we will not be taking any money. We chose Kickstarter as our funding platform because it either guarantees we have the budget to complete the game or we take nothing at all. Anything in between would mean we've taken money with no guarantees, and we won't do that.

As always, thanks very much for your support. We’ll talk again soon.

When we funded IndieDB, it was because we trusted in independent games. Nowadays, despite dozens of AAA games, indie developers are rather creative and innovative than big titles. What truly matters guys is that you managed to interest a lot of people, including us, to believe in your work. This is already a proof that you achieved to do something really interesting and promising.

We both know how difficult it could be, for an independent group, to develop something when they are limited. Indie developers don't have the same amount of resources than AAA games... And that's a shame when you know that their stuff is getting better than the latter ones. That's the case for you guys, and I respect you a lot for being honest towards your community, about your Kickstarter campaign. I personally fell in love the first time I noticed your game. I was reading your news, with the feeling that this was going to be an amazing game. You are going to redefine the way I consider the Real-Time-Space-Strategy genre. I gotta hand it to you guys.

You have our full support guys. Best of luck. I personally don't follow a lot of Indie games on our website, but yours deserve it.

Flagship, Pulsar: The Lost Colony, and my game Shadow Star are all in development side by side, and have roughly the same core premise. I like the idea that the three of us are out there and doing the same kind of stuff together, because it makes me feel like what we're doing is worth it; we're part of a new wave of people with similar ideas and aspirations working against the odds. It makes the playing field less lonely.

So I don't care about any guarantees. I just want you guys to keep working, know that your fans are watching, and I'm down to throw money at that.

If I could, I would have personally contributed the 45,000 (or a even the full 100,000!) pounds needed to finish the funding for Flagship...Even with the exchange rate from the USA! Flagship is an idea I have wanted realized ever since I first picked up Star Trek Bridge Commander a decade ago. I'm glad you guys are sticking with it, and if there's anything I can do, even just spreading the word, I'll do it.

Wishing you all well,

Kirrahe

Game looks good and is def something different. I also bought Elite Dangerous awhile back and i'm very happy with the way that game is progressing. Hope to see yours get the funding next time around !!!!

You guys are just amazing, so much you've done alone like this? It's just incredible

As for your "All or nothing" approach to funding... that's actually really respectable. Good luck in your personal lives and remember that you have huge fans here even if you never can finish the game :)

Really sad I have missed the kickstarter. Is there any more development news or a new crowd funding campaign?
Cheers
