First Flight Thread - fairspace : genesis

When docket you can launch into space by clicking the far left hand icon on the icon bar, alternatively you can use F1. An animation sequence showing the location where you are leaving is shows for a few seconds. You are then in space free to fly wherever you want in any direction you want.

You use the 'SPACE BAR' to switch between manual and automatic flight.

Manual Flight is where you move the mouse and your ship changes direction to follow, this is controlling the ship and is mostly used for navigation and combat.

Automatic Flight is where your ship continues on its fixed course while you interact with the hud/ top icons bar or pop up screens.

During normal flight you would switch between manual and automatic flight regularly, You can rebind the key used to a different one using the settings icon.

To Dock your ship again you need to go to manual flight mode, spin the ship around so its pointing back to either the location you want to dock with and then either press F1 or switch flight modes and click the dock icon.

You can dock at any friendly location, space stations, planets, battleships and jump holes.

Once your in space you can use 3 different methods of travelling around.

Thrusters, This is a generally slow speed and is used for docking, combat and looting.

Warp, When you have bigger distances to travel warp drive is much faster, start your warp up by pressing L when in manual flight mode, This will begin the warp countdown in the top right hand corner, Once your warp drive is active you will rapidly increase speed up to your drives maximum speed. You can then navigate towards distant nebula or planets to find new locations to dock. To switch of warp drive press the L key again whilst in manual flight mode, Your ship will begin to slow down. To Slow down more quickly press the Back Space Key This will bring you to a faster stop. You cannot engage your warp if your power core is not fully powered.

HyperSpace, To use hyperspace press F2 to bring up the map. You can now either right click to set a target on the map or select a planet and click it as a target. To hyperspace to any target the target must be within range, this is shown as a large red circle on the map screen. Once the target is set you can switch back to manual flight mode and press H to engage the hyperspace drive. A countdown will begin and you will be instantly transported to your new location. After a hyperspace jump your core will be drained, this will take a whole to recharge in which time you cannot go to warp or hyperspace.

You can upgrade your hyperspace/warp drive as you travel from location to location, Various races have there own drives with better ranges and faster response times.
