We are pleased to announce the release date of Esperia ~ Uprising of the Scarlet Witch ~
Esperia is a hybrid game combining turn-based tactical grid battle similar to Fire Emblem with a deep visual novel narrative. It takes place in an heroic fantasy world where the might and justice of knights meet the obscure secrets of magic and witches. The game will be released on the first of March, 2023!
Story and gameplay
The story follows Diana Pendragon, the second princess of Mediana, after she is accused of high treason and witchcraft, forcing her to flee from her own castle. She set up on a quest to prove her innocence and reclaim her honor, stumbling upon dark secrets on her way. The narrative part of the game is a visual novel following her journey.
The game is composed of narration and battle parts, on the battlefield you can use over 20 unique characters with their own class and skills : gain experience, level up, and use the right combinaison of swords, bows and magic to overcome your enemies!
The main story is over 20 chapters/maps long, plus secret and character-specific chapters. These bonus chapters unlock new weapons, skills or class for your units, but you can only play with certain units so you can't rely on your usual powerhouse.
The choices you will make during the story will sometimes directly influence the battle parts, and depending on how you perform on the battlefield, the story events and options you will face might change as well!
Relationships and death
Your characters can develop relationships with each others, increasing their stats in battle and giving them access to new skills. At the highest level, the ending of the characters will even change.
In Esperia, death is also part of the journey. While disabled in easy mode, normal and higher modes have permadeath: each of your character can die if they are defeated on the map. Their death represents more than an incapacitated unit, and will have consequence in the story, as well as the characters they are closer to, so be careful when you plan an attack!
Try to make your way into the story and help Diana reclaim her throne in this turn-based strategy x visual novel game inspired by Fire Emblem, Tears to Tiara and Arthurian myths.
