Created by Jamie Fristrom, the guy who once invented the swinging gameplay mechanics for Spider-Man 2, Energy Hook pays homage to that system, bringing you death-and-gravity-defying stunts hundreds of meters in the air. Use your trusty energy hook, jetpack, and gravity boots to swing from dizzying heights, perform midair tricks, run on walls and ceilings, and generally go crazy in the extreme sport of the future.

Introducing Energy Hook, the grappling-and-swinging game by the inventor of Spider-Man 2's swinging mechanic, and a Call For Players

Posted by on

Hi - I'm Jamie, and once upon a time I was technical director & designer on Spider-Man 2 at Treyarch. I was the dude who invented the swinging system, which a lot of people thought was pretty cool, and it seems like now's the time to bring something like that back. So I've been working on this game: Energy Hook - which combines grappling-and-swinging gameplay with trick-attack and race challenges like in Tony Hawk and SSX.

I'm at the point where I want to show it to a select few players before launching a Kickstarter to fund the rest of development. So if you have a few hours to spend playing the game and providing thoughtful, specific feedback, let me know! You can comment here or e-mail me at jamie@happionlabs.com. I can't take everybody, but I want to find people from various different corners of the internet, to get a wide range of feedback and to help raise awareness.

I've been really open about the development of this, so if you're interested, you can go back and see my progress over the months, either on youtube (here's the latest and here's one of the earliest videos I ever posted) or on my blog.

And, of course, I'm doing social media stuff. If you don't want to miss the Kickstarter or want to help raise awareness for the game, you can Like on Facebook, follow on twitter, or subscribe to my direct mail list.

Thanks!
