Who we are and what we do

We are here to introduce Ethereal Muse Studios, Inc. and its production: Project Encore. Ethereal Muse is company that develops artistic assets and uses them as a source to revitalize your innermost imaginations. As these imaginations are developed, they are turned into animations and video games. We have recently been developing a video game called: Project Encore which is an arcade game with rhythm-style elements. A player controls the character that moves through 2.5D game levels from left to right, surmounts obstacles and fights different monsters with the help of musical combos. The plot line opens by and by through the game video-comics that are played between the game levels.

Introduction
Playing musical instruments to fend off enemies is going to be the main reason why Project Encore is unique. Because of the notes played through various instruments and memorized songs, the output level for users will be extremely high. Songs that are implemented in the “Encore” world can be sought out as super natural magic. It’s as if the skilled musicians were trained to play complex notes to manipulate and augment the affects from within the instrument. Erika was the first musician to discover the effects of “onatic” songs and she was only thirteen at the time.

Storyline
“Erika discovering Onate”

The music on the scroll was untitled, and bore no indication of authorship. The piece itself was like nothing Erika had ever seen before, though her frequent source-walks had granted her a broad knowledge of music that few could have matched. She purchased the scroll for a surprisingly small price, then took it home and attacked it with her violin. The piece was hard – far more challenging than anything she had attempted up to that point. But Erika was the best. The music flowed from scroll to eye, then from hand to string, and finally escaped into the air for the first time in centuries. It filled the air with currents of power, warmth and cold, everything and nothing filling the space around her as she played. The universe seemed to dance around her.
The Concept of Onate

O•na•te` |ōnätē | - Noun

1. A system of manipulating and controlling materials through a precise composition of various sound waves. Originated from another universe, which is widely practiced as a sport in Ethetica, mainly using sound waves instruments.

Assuming your instrument is an "Xbox Controller"

Musical Combat
Recent studies have shown that the timing in notes does not matter when it comes to producing Onatic melodies. Precise notes can be played as fast or as slow as possible. However notes must be played correctly with no mistakes. During the era of when Imps mysteriously appeared on Earth, many musicians were called upon to fight. Those who had the knowledge of Onate` were more effective against Imps than rifles and guns.

Erika Sato - Violinist (Main Character)

Onate` and the Instrument

Onate` has been known to be very stressful on instruments. If a musician does not have the proper equipment then it is inevitable that the instrument will break: strings will fling while snares may wear. After talking to a few Onatic Musicians they were noticing that Imps carried music equipment inside their body, and that new strings plus other accessories could be accessed after killing an Imp.

Discovering Melodies

It is just impossible to discover an Onatic Melody on your own! Even worse, your friends or comrades can’t teach you them. In order to learn an Onatic Melody you must actually see the scroll yourself. Scrolls can be obtained and/or seen:

1. Killing someone who has a scroll
2. Finding them on walls
3. Purchasing scrolls at Union Square street Vendors
Onate` and Beyond!

Rumor has it that there are Onatic Melodies that take 30 to 50+ notes to play. Those who are skilled in Onate` have been able to fabricate guardians from their music to assist them against evil.

People who are experts on Onate` are capable of assassinating their opponents within seconds. Being able to land a combination of melee swins and Onatic songs can be a deadline mixture.

A professional execution will be seen on multiplayer

Nice work... Idea for this game is brilliant.
But, I've got a question: Is this game will be availibe on PC or only at XBox360/PS3/PS2?

The playable demo is for the PC. hopefully if we get enough publicity I would like this to be an Xbox Title or XBLA game. Do keep in mind that Ethereal Muse is a start up company and this will be our first product =)

For a first product, it looks damn good, that's the way a first product should be done :)

Hi there, slim from the dev team here. As far as Xbox support, we're currently doing this in XNA which supports both PC & Xbox publishing by default. Those of us on the tech team have released games to multiple platforms in our professional history (MMO/PC/Console), so assuming we line up all of our resources for this production, we'll have no trouble publishing it smoothly to Xbox Live Arcade.

Not sure possessed toddlers being blown away by a girl who could be their baby sitter is a type of game I could enjoy. That said, your artwork and design is brilliant.

Being a father of 3 and living in a world where old children's stories are too gruesome to share with your kids anymore (regression?) I'd still be shocked if anyone took offense to the art style and themes currently presented for this title. I think you guys have done a wonderful job and hope to see more soon.

Absolutely amazing idea. I can't wait to try this concept out. I assume your game will be available on steam? ;)

NullSoldier,

Slim from the dev team here. We're at the prototype phase, so it's not absolutely clear, but Steam is a potential option as is Xbox Live Arcade.

The game has a pretty technically competent team behind it who's had past game industry production experience on some well-known AAA titles, so we're not limited in platform as a team with less expertise might be. Combined PC & Xbox releases seem well within the cards now, and perhaps other platforms after the game has proven to do well. We'll definitely keep the community updated with the details as they firm up.

If you posted this two months earlier, I would've thought this would be voted as the best upcoming indie game. :D

Looks great by the way. I'm really looking forward to seeing this playable in-game. Good luck!

Actually this would be an Independent title and not a mod but agree with everything else you've said.

I loved LOOM and certainly I will love this game, too!

But I don't understand why a xbox360 controller is better for playing notes than the keyboard.
