You are a God! You are master and ruler of a loyal nation. You have unimaginable powers at your disposal. You have claimed this world as yours. But there are others who stand in your way. You must defeat and destroy these pretenders. Only then can you ascend to godhood and become the new Pantokrator. When you start the game you decide what kind of god you are and how your DOMINION affects your lands and followers. It is an expression of your divine might and the faith of your followers. If your dominion dies, so do you. Your dominion also inspires your sacred warriors and gives them powers derived from your dominion. In order to win and become the one true god you have to defeat your enemies one of three different ways: conquer their lands, extinguish their dominion or claim the Thrones of Ascension. Release version and manual is available now. Manual can be downloaded from Illwinter's web page.

The nation descriptions are all wrong (ports from Dominions III), and the nation itself is quite dull. It's Pangaea under the sea. That's like, it. I would love to see the next patch be a sea patch (like the last patch was a cave patch), with Oceania remade. Perhaps some more interesting nation history, and more exotic attacks for the units. Icthysatyrs could fight with harpoons, maybe? And they would work as ranged weapons underwater. That would definitely be interesting.
And national spells. Not just summons, but rituals and combat spells.
Also, LA Oceania would be cool. I know it would be iffy lore-wise, what with R'Lyeh having steamrolled the seas, but I'm sure it could be worked in somehow. Maybe the capricorns learned blood magic and this somehow helped them fight the insanity R'Lyeh unleashed. That woudl also be cool. An underwater blood nation.
They could have tamed sharks (because blood+water=sharks), and some custom blood spells. I have an idea for a potential LA Oceania blood spell
Blood Warp:
Corrupting the natural ability of Oceanian units' ability to transform into land-capable forms, this spell turns all Oceanian units on the battlefield into monstrous beasts.

Also, please, nobody suggest I mod this. Modding is not easy or simple, and it is beyond my capabilities and patience. I'm merely proposing to the developers and the community a way to improve this already wonderful game

LA Oceania is a project of the dev already.

I think it's pelagia who have flavor problem, even if Oceania is far from perfect.

For the blood, it's really not oceania-like. I hope it won't be that :)

There won't be blood underwater IIRC.

But fleshing out Oceania would be cool.

Modders to the rescue!. Well, not exactly, but pretty close.

(at first I read the topic title as 'will Oceania get a robot' which would be...amusing).
I agree that 'Pangea but UNDERWATER' can get a bit bland as a theme. So focus on original stuff, the harpoon could be something, a rare underwater ranged attack. I'd pass on the blood too, might be too Pangea like and for underwater nations it can be a bit clunky.

The next patch does indeed seem to be a water patch, and I agree that Oceania is pretty boring flavor-wise with many of the descriptions starting off "The underwater realm has many similarities to the land one and like X, Y exists under the sea". However I would like the slew of balance problems remedied first. Oceania isn't that bad strength wise.

Argh Modding at the level you ar talking about is stupidly easy. I'm call'n LAZY on your player.

#selectmonster "Icthysatyrs"
#weapon "Harpoon"
#end

Gee really mindbogglingly difficult work there? Your welcome to try my Oceania mod BrightOcean Oceania MA. I've given the Ichysatyrs nets, javelins and harpoons and made a bunch of other changes to make Oceania MA more diverse. I think if you look over the code I've written you'll figure out the format in under like 10 minutes..then its just a matter of picking out the vocabulary form the mod manual.

He don't want to do that, and it's understandable. Not everybody want to read and understand the modding manual or take a bit of time to understand what it don't work.

A robot would make Oceania more interesting, albeit in a bizarre way inconsistent with the rest of the game.
I think blood magic for LA Oceania would be fantastic, and in sync with the late age theme of relying on sorcery (particularly blood and death magic). But only with a bunch of unique spells.
Underwater blood could be very cool and unique (but it'd have to be a different kind of blood than Pangaea's, naturally), Maybe there could be sea demons, and the aforementioned shark spell (with a somehow different nature than the conjuration shark spells- seriously, though: blood+water=sharks. It just makes sense.)
@Fenryder
Yes, I am lazy.

brxbrx, just so to be sure : you cannot blood hunt underwater, and the purity of the ocean is supposed to be anathema to blood magic (whose almost no spell can be cast underwater).

I think it's not an awesome thematic because it's a pangea thematic, so it make oceania even more pangea like, in addition to be out of character for the nation as currently described.

Yeah, but death magic was out of character for Atlantis, astral was out of character for Jotunheim, blood was out of character for Marignon. And look what happened to Ulm in the end.
That's what the late age is about. Desperation leading to great changes.

I disagree for the first two, and it don't prevent Oceania from doing something actually original instead of taking the same path as Pangea. There is a lot of other option, like them becoming an hive mind because of the mind enslavement from R'lyeh. They could pick up fire magic (and consequently acid spells) to be the wrath of the sea denizen. They could go the revolutionary path and do something akin to the french revolution but underwater.

I don't say thoses are *good* ideas. But there is much more options than boringly making them EA Pangea.

Well, I'm hoping for a different kind of blood magic than Pangaea's. But the acid hivemind thing sounds cool.
