The Old God has left the world and the pretenders are awakening and coming out from hiding. You start the game by designing one of the pretender gods that will compete for true ascension to godhood. The type of god can range from a magically powerful arch mage to an ancient kraken or a mystic monolith that people pray to. Your pretender controls one of over sixty different nations and with the help of that nation he will spread his word and battle the other pretenders. Dominions 3 is a turn based strategy game. You can play single- or multiplayer (1 - 23 players) with simultaneous turns. There are more than 1500 different units, 600 spells and 300 magic items in the game. The game also features a medieval musical score by Erik Ask Uppmark and Anna Rynefors, both awarded the title of Musicians of the Realm by the Swedish Zornmärkeskommiten. Dominions 3 is a highly detailed game and a 300 page pdf manual is included in the download.

This is a message reserved for OP of proposed high-commitment, AND game for intermediate players.

It will be replaced with proper header for the game (like Indiedb.com ) in few days.

What is required at the moment is to make proper guessing/estimation of preferences required for the game.
Please acknowledge if you would like to take part in this game.

This issue has started in the thread "New high-commitment no-diplomacy games - is there any interest" ( Indiedb.com ) , and almost everything discussed there is applicable for this game.
It is going to be:
1) High-commitment game
2) No-diplomacy and Anonymous game, particularly AND
3) Game intended for 'intermediate' skill players (or "newbie-intermediate" if you are certain in yourself).
4) Indep.Str=7, Renaming=ON, wraparound fixed map with fixed starts according to amount of players; delay-tolerant

Definitions for different skill levels are given in the beginning of Indiedb.com

I'll create another game's thread "InterMinus" for another game with very similar settings.
I suggest the following difference between these games:
Both games are intended for intermediate players, however InterPlus is for those who is somewhat more certain in their 'intermediate' skills and capabilities, while InterMinus is for those who is somewhat less certain in it.
This is mainly symbolic difference due to certain vagueness of "intermediate" definition. The very reason for such branching was because there were votes that there are too many players gathered for a single game and because two games are capable to suit participants needs better.

Please write quick message here if you'd like to sign into this game.

Aha, Rytek!
What are your preferences for Era? (likes-dislikes)

Very good. I hoped new people may come (in comparison with discussion in Indiedb.com ) - and here is it.

In.

I vote for LA and would like to suggest we cap signup at 7.

Dec 3 2013 Anchor

Then I'd better sign up myself while it is not too late:)

Update: CruelT requested to sign him in
Update2: I temporarily reserve one position for iKonoKlasta.
Whether he/she prefers to join here or into InterMinus game - is for his/her choice.

Update:
The game is full now.
What will be further?

We seemingly have an admin for the game. (There were people who showed willingness to help with it). I need to coordinate with them who will care of which game, when will they step in, etc etc. Announcements will come.
So in this particular game at some point someone else (future admin) will replace me (but before nation selection).

There will be map selection.
Actually you can already look maps and vote which maps do you like and which you don't like.
List of 7land fixed starts maps I found is here: Indiedb.com
If you know other wraparound 7land fixed starts maps - even better.

I vote against the Broken Kingdoms map. I played on it before and it is biased in favour of nations that come with sailing abilities.

I like all the other 3 maps listed (Streamlands, Land of squirls, Vale of variance).

Dec 4 2013 Anchor

Era: we have 3 votes for LA, one vote for MA, others abstained. So era will be LA

Dec 5 2013 Anchor

No preference on the map. They're all good. Streamlands has quite a few versions online though, some of which have a missing connection here and there, IIRC.

i dont care map

Dec 6 2013 Anchor

No preference the map.

Let's take Streamlands map then.

I'll try to perform investigation of its versions available and filter out wrong ones. (In AscencionSupremacy Streamlands was chosen, so I'll be able to kill two birds with one stone:)). Maybe on Sunday, since I'll be busy tomorrow.

At the same time hopefully I'll be able to introduce you new admin of the game on this Weekends. He will be the one to perform nation selection and guide the game further.
Player amount, Era, IndepStrength, map - it seems everything what can affect the nation preference is defined now. So you can already think about your prefered ones (and probably start working on nation design since for 7 players chances to get first requested nation are quite high, and chances to get either first or second are almost certain).

Great job, Chelubey! Thanks!

Lucheng Indiedb.com agreed to be admin for our game.
Welcome and thank you very much!

I'll likely remain in the role of game organizer for a little while more (to detect proper version of Streamlands on llamaserver), also - words concerning rules/anonymosity etc should be mentioned, so I'll coordinate with Lucheng about that and update OP).

Re: anonymity, I've had good experiences with the following rules:

- Once the game has started, any and all communication about the game goes through the admin. This includes delay requests. Do not post a delay request in the forum, because everybody can see on llamaserver which nation is late sending their turn in and connect the dots.
- Renaming is to be limited to functional unit information. Call your prophet Prophet, rename your mages after their paths or randoms, that's okay. Put diplo in commander names, your ass gets coated with honey and lashed to a pole sticking out from an anthill. With barbwire. Diplo includes jokes like naming your scout "death to monkeys" or whatever.
- Pretenders must be given the name of the nation. The pretender of Marignon is called Marignon. So no funny stuff.
- When you die, you may reveal yourself in the game thread. However, do not post an AAR, as it almost certainly will contain information liable to influence at least some of the remaining players. Do not say who killed you either. And do not call for revenge on xxx. The no diplo rule does not discriminate between the living and the dead. Violations see above.
- In cases not covered by these rules, always choose to minimize the amount of information disseminated. It may seem unfun, but it's really the only way to make this kind of game work.

Objections?

And can we send nations preferences to Lucheng? And thanks for being our admin, by the way. Much appreciated.

Hello, all. It's my pleasure to be the admin of this game.
You can send me your nation preferences now.
Also send me your second preference in case there are conflicts.

Dec 8 2013 Anchor

Lucheng, thanks for being our admin.

How many nation preferences do we send you? Just 2?

Dec 8 2013 Anchor

Just in case: it was already agreed in initial thread that we go without R'lyeh and Ermor, since they are so special. I just forgot to mention that in OP.

All points without exception are good. I was going to suggest about the same.

As for the names, we can agree on some naming convention, like (for instance)

"__MnMnMnMnMn"
M - a letter of magic path, n - skill in magic path. (For all magic paths this commander has)
It makes: "a2n4" or "s3D5" or "* s2b2"

'_' means any symbol. That is two symbol prefix is possible. This is to give people opportunity to select some special commanders among similar ones(e.g. intended for launching BE/BF)
It makes "* a2s2n" or "!!w2b3".
I guess it should cover 99% of needs when renaming is used to reduce micromanagement.

I think two is enough for most people. You can consider the third preference later if that unlucky event really happens.

About the rule for nation selection:
When two or more players choose the same nation, none of them will get this one. All of them will get their second preference, unless there are still conflicts. If anyone don't like this method, we can discuss it. Otherwise, I'll tell you the sesults when I gather all the nation preference.
