FAQ Commentary Thread - Dominions 3: The Awakening

Post any comments, suggestions and feedback on the Dom3 FAQ in this thread.

Known issues:

• Most links point to the old official forums at Shrapnel Games. These will be updated as soon as possible. It requires many of the important threads from there (such as the bug shortlist) to be copied here and will take some time.
• There are some bits and pieces that may refer to how things were done at Shrapnel and these will also be cleaned up as time permits.

Most of the links in the FAQ were broken because the Desura forum did not seem to like the link formatting those were copy-pasted from. The links have now been fixed and in some cases updated with more recent resources. Some old stuff has also been pruned.

Not really sure where to put this so, i guess here.

I was wondering how to access the manual, the game summary notes that it should be included in the download but i can't seem to locate it anywhere,
I could just be blind but if anyone could help it'd be appreciated .

There should be a directory called doc in your Dom3 installation directory. E.g. C:\Games\Dom3\doc\or similar. The manual is, or should be there.

I'm still running off of the old Shrapnel Games install, but when I patched the game to version 3.28, the manual appeared there.

Ahha, located!. Desura uses a similar file/path to steam so it's in Desura/common etc. think i was thrown off by looking for a link from the app.

You're welcome. You could also download the installer file and then install the game in any directory you please. I don't use the Desura client myself for games obtained from here (such as Conquest of Elysium 3).

Apologies for posting my question in the wrong thread. No idea how I missed this one. It is a pressing question though, that I've seen asked (and upvoted) on the top level dom3 comment thread on desura.

No need to apologize. I'll add that and the answer immediately. I was just two minutes away from leaving work, so I had to leave it for the moment.

EDIT:

Apparently the demo cannot be downloaded from anywhere at the moment now that Shrapnel has taken it down and removed the links to the Dominions 3 page (can still be found with the custom search). The demo is gone, the only downloadables are the 3.27a modding manual and the 3.28 patch.

I've notified Johan and I expect that we will see the demo uploaded somewhere fairly soon.
