Description
DEATHPIT 3000 is a top-down co-op bullet hell shooter where you fight waves of enemies to claim arena championships! Choose a quantum ability that promotes offensive or defensive play-styles as you battle your way through four distinct Deathpits and slaughter hoards of deadly enemies to earn Spacebux and unlock weapons, equipment and upgrades, all in a humorous dystopian sci-fi universe. Inspired by retro classic Smash TV and influenced by modern co-op titles such as Left 4 Dead and Alien Swarm, it’s a punchy experience - great for casual gamers but with enough challenge and tactical depth for hours of replayability.
History
DEATHPIT 3000 was born on a trip to Germany, where Ned and Gareth were intending to start a new game with their friend Rich in the summer of 2016. Wanting a game that included fast-paced multiplayer, but was also a managable project for a small team, lead them to think back on the top-down 2D games of their childhoods. The idea emerged for a game that was limited to an arena's size so that they could focus on developing tactical team play, diverse enemy types, and upgradable characters and tech.
After the initial few months of prototyping with Rich, the game was showing enough potential that Ned and Gareth decided to take development of DEATHPIT though to a full Steam release. They were successfully greenlit by the Steam community, one of the last games to do so before the introduction of Steam Direct.
