Color Fight is a competitive 2D multiplayer shooter, where players create abstract digital art as a byproduct of play. While trying to eliminate each other, players alternatively paint and destroy the playfield, resulting in dynamic, ever evolving gameplay. Different colors have different gameplay effects and can be strategically mixed. Color Fight uses no hud, and instead, finds clever ways of communicating information to players without being confusing. The results are visuals that are as interesting to onlookers as they are to players. Color Fight is intended to be played locally with multiple gamepads, but supports mouse and keyboard as well.
After three months of distractions, I finally resumed working on Color Fight last night. I made the playfield bigger to allow players more room to strategize. But since that made everything look too small, I then added a new camera system that tracks the players and dynamically zooms in and out. Overall, gameplay feels a lot more active now!
