Using your "Sonic Screwdriver" (the name still being discussed and mulled over here), you'll be able to extract resources from nearby surfaces and construct some small objects. One of these objects is the "Replicator Plate"; the equivalent to Minecraft's crafting table.
Where the Sonic Screwdriver that's always in your possession can make smaller objects, the replicator plate will replicate larger tools and devices you might need to go from asteroid, to interstellar starship.
