Blaze is a retro/minimalistic styled sci-fi first person flight/shooter action game. The game can be played almost single handedly with just mouse. It's about shooting a lot of alien things (in semi-randomized missions?). The alien things are trying capture all your base, and have already captured at least half of it. You have to defend the base and capture the alien controlled areas back. Or something like that...
Added some little things to the muzzle, and made it spin. Improved the UV map, so that some parts were mirror/overlapped. Then there's also some muzzle flash effects and the beam. The textures for the flash and beam were done pretty fast, but seems they worked quite ok.
Didn't use any particle effects, but doesn't look like it would need them?
The firing effect reminds me somewhat of the doom alpha bfg shot - more so on the previous screen shot. Before the doom bfg was the huge green ball.

I was thinking it looked something like the lightning gun. The earlier stuff was meant to be something like the light saber from Abuse.
i like the style of this one better tbh. Indiedb.com
Well, anyone can still enable or disable the texture filters.
I might also try drawing details into the textures again, even though this has usually been the part where I screw up real bad. Maybe with lowres enough I wouldn't?
I'm also going to make the weapon models from single mesh elements. This will increase the tri count a bit, but should make AO bakes better.. and maybe I'll have colors blend together too (even without filtering or detailing).
Could also try some Posterize on the textures to give them a low color look without making them paletted (making a palette/etc is annoying).
