Description
CandyWorld. Once a digital world of happiness and unicorns is now a violent, thug infested hell-hole. In this changed and dangerous setting a troubled little girl (that should really get on Prozac), embarks on a journey to find her friend's giant robot. But the thugs that roam this world are nothing compared to the demons of her past, as she discovers the true meaning of friendship and family.
History
This is embarrassing.
Do you know what happens when you start a game development studio with zero experience? Well, I didn't.
Making your ideas a reality proved a pain in the lower-back region. We were working on Hybris, making all the mistakes you can possibly imagine. ALL OF THEM! It was so bad that months later we still didn't have a working prototype. As I said, embarrassing. We were starting to get the hang of it, but failures take a toll and we needed a break.
So we did an internal game jam to blow off some steam.
One of the prototypes was described as "Super Mario, with a weapon, on crack". And it got us hooked. First of all, it was working (yay!). But also, it was actually fun to play.
The bullets were slow-moving, requiring some serious platforming skills to make it through. And the ability to temporarily freeze time made everything feel SO cool.
When we added a narrative layer with a story inspired by Pixar and Tarantino (quite the combo) we felt this was it. It was never supposed to be a commercial project. But somehow, it came to be.
Say hello to Apocalypse Cow.
