Now that the lighting engine has been implemented, the night time experience of Adventure Craft is well under way! The game will be filled with monsters, animals and events that only occur when its dark!
When the sun goes down we initiate what we are calling "Night Scenarios" This is a collection of "enemy spawning" objects, night time monsters, and nocturnal creatures that will follow a theme. So at night you may be faced with a zombie attack, or an alien invasion to name a couple.
Below is an image of one of these night monsters. They are known as the Takers. The keepers of the night. Mysterious and deadly, these hooded phantoms emerge from "Taker Gates" slaying everything that gets in their way.
Although it will be rare to see a Taker Gate in the daytime, here is an example of how they look lit up at night! The lighting engine allows for multiple animated light sources on an object which looks really cool!
Here is a shot of some Takers whippin up on some goblins.
And here's a shot of me getting killed. That bird is brave. Stupid, but brave!
Takers tend to roam around with all sorts of other creatures of the night. After slaughtering all those goblins and wild boars they sent a couple of their monster dog things at me! Yikes!
It didn't end well for me.
On a brighter note, we can now also add day time shadows to a biome as well to create effects like clouds passing over from above! They are transparent and gently move along the ground which gives a nice effect!
