'Achtung Minen!' is a strategy game based on the classic game Minesweeper. Two players must race to secure a path across a deadly minefield, and capture the enemy's base. Supply crates dotted around the minefield can offer a tactical advantage to a daring player, but watch out; one wrong move and BOOM! 'Achtung Minen!' will be free to download and play, and will have online multiplayer capability.
For those wondering where I'd disappeared to, I've been busy running up a simple (for the time being) pre-pass lighting renderer for use in my game engine, which will hopefully be in a fit state to warrant it's won page before too long. What this means for Achtung Minen! is the ability to render beautiful, fully dynamic, light-emitting particle effects in real-time.
The video only shows some early work with a single point light, but I'm currently hard at work extending the framework to support potentially hundreds of different light sources, as well as working on other essentials like shadowing and material effects. After that, I should possibly invest in some better video capture software.
