Dive off a skyscraper. Spraypaint buildings. Flip off protesters. The jumps you make off buildings floating above Boston, Massachusetts are all about style and timing. You perform stunts, weaving around the bustling City for points, making split-second decisions: do you snake around those girders to earn a dozen "kisses," or glide along the side of that steel super-skyscraper for massive "hugs"? AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! then throws in the spectators — as you fall, give fans the thumbs-up and protesters the finger.

Dejobaan Games, LLC has made available a 30-level pre-release of their upcoming BASE jumping game, "AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity."

Hey, isn't this fantastic? They got the logo backwards, by the by.

Aaaaa! Alpha Test Shots Aaaaa! Alpha Test Shots

Fans can try a new 9-level demo and pre-order the full game for $15 ($10 off the full price) at www.dejobaan.com/aaaaa. Those who pre-order will receive the full 30-level pre-release, exclusive content as it's developed, and the the full 80-level game when it's released in Q3.

Q3 makes it sound like they're talking about Quake 3, which they're totally not. They mean third quarter 2009.

Since the indie studio released the game's public alpha test, they've added new content and incorporated player feedback to improve gameplay. The pre-release introduces new levels and game mechanics such as the option to trade human teeth for triple espresso shots and the ability to anger protesters for points. There's also a relaxing audio meditation for anyone too stressed out to play the game.

This is, strictly speaking, all true. I've played the bits with flipping off protesters and giving thumbs-ups to fans. Here's a shot of the programming team to prove it:

"AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity" is scheduled for a Q3 2009 release, and will require Windows XP/Vista, a 1.5GHz processor, 1.5GB memory, a 3D card with 256MB memory, and Microsoft DirectX 9.0c. Visit Dejobaan online at www.dejobaan.com, and follow them on Twitter at @RoRoDejobaan.

Again, all true. Stay cool, ladies and gents.

I'd buy this if it was gonna be available on Steam.
Will it be on Steam?

When possible, you should buy indie games directly from the developer, otherwise you're basically giving Valve a good portion of your money instead of the guy who actually, you know, made the game.

That may be true, but you have to think of the user as well. While I'm more than ecstatic to support an indie developer...

I'll wait to buy this when it's on Steam. I simply don't see any reason to buy games that aren't on Steam anymore. (Can you imagine people Still buy games in the store? How archaic)

yeah I'm new to buying stuff online, so the only thing I'm willing to trust is Steam right now because it's such a huge platform, also I would get my games on the steam list right away and could install from any location easily by just logging into my account...

Only made 2 online game purchases so far, both on steam, steam works for me so I'm not going to buy from anywhere else lol

i would buy this now, straight from the developer,
1, it supports them 100%,
2, it keeps that steam spyware rubbish off my computer.

i prefer having something tangible for my purchase, i want the Dvd and case, that way i feel i've actually got something for my money.

Pre ordering is sounding mighty enticing.

Go Dejobaan!

Hi jeff,
Don't you guys in Wolfire have a deal with steam that if someone pre order directly from your website, he also gets a steam "copy"?
Maybe it applies here as well.

I'd have to agree, steam is the way to go. Sure they'll pocket some money, but you'll get huge exposure and the amount you sell will more than make up for it. Just think of it this way, when you open steam and the update screen pops up, you instantly get a million users that are aware your game exists.

Only downside is your gonna have to compete with all the other games on there.

why wouldn't you buy it otherwise, why only support steam? you don't own the games you pay good money for when its over steam...

This sounds really sweet. Gonna have to try the extended demo before purchase, though.

I HATE Steam, and all that it's "revolutionized," such as HAVING TO HAVE an internet connection in order to activate a title. What about LARGE segments of the population that don't have internet access and/or slow connection? They're disenfranchised right from the start with entities like Steam.

What happens, when, one day, the developer of said title goes out of business, or decides to no longer support a title, or "gasp" Steam goes out of business, or decides not to support a title? How are these previously purchased titles going to be activated then, eh?

As a consumer, as long as we do our share of ensuring that it's kept in an operable condition, we have a LEGAL RIGHT to be able to FREELY enjoy the media we purchase. Services such as Steam THREATEN that RIGHT, and, for the sake of lazy "convenience" people are foolishly forgetting that and weakening that RIGHT.

Don't think that a monolith like Steam can go out of business? Well, look at our ENTIRE financial system that's plunged the world into an economic cataclysm. If these "elite, all powerful, all knowing, all wise," and "immortal" corporations weren't now receiving welfare on a truly unimaginable scale, we'd be having a Great Depression the likes of which has never been seen before.

And, hate to burst the bubble here, if a company like Steam were to be on the verge of collapse, it's hard for me to imagine it getting government welfare to save its fanny from the frying pan.

I'm ALL for supporting indie developers, but to take a stance where they "must" or "have to" latch themselves to one of Steam's puss filled teats is a stance that's indefensible from NUMEROUS positions. And all for the sake of "convenience." How...sad.

no one said they have to be on Steam.
I'm just saying I'll buy it if it makes it on Steam, otherwise I got plenty of other stuff to keep me busy.

Friend, this isn't exactly the right place to discuss Steam's relative merits (or lack of).
Just enjoy the news.

Who ever said you had to love steam? You're entitled to your own opinion, but windlab is right, this isn't a place to discuss valve/steam business. Also the gaming/computing industry is stronger than ever. Just the fact that an indie studio can spend little money and produce a great game like this proves that. I'll definently have to buy this game, steam or not.

Well, Steam is not _that_ huge of a deal.

You should be more concerned at the rootkits and other ****-ware that the ever-so-growing-in-popularity antiviruses contain and thus pose a threat...

All it takes is a push of the wrong button and our PCs can turn into mindless zombies anyway.

So, the point is that today's PCs are full of crap anyway, so I don't care for one more or one less.

I don't know why, but everytime I try to install this, it doesn't work, saying that the .exe cannot be moved or something.
then I can't uninstall it unless I restart the computer because some file in the folder cannot be erased because it says that it is being used...

Kinda fun. $25, seriously? I'd recomend it to somebody who might enjoy it for $5, at most. - and I wouldn't pay more than $3. Hardly more game content than a punch-the-monkey ad.

80 levels for the full version not enough + new items?
$25 isn't much compared to other games who have even less content.

Why 1.5GB of RAM? The game world's detalisation cannot be compared even to games released 10 years ago. I'm not saying that game is bad, conversely I liked the idea and gameplay. Levels are also nice, but they consist of just couple of rectangular buildings, so why the requirements are so hight? Even UT2004 ran quite swift with only 512MB of RAM.
P.S. It's not complaint but curiosity.
