3079 is a futuristic, open-world action first-person role playing game. You arrive on a planet experiencing constant war. It is your duty to find out why the warring factions cannot find peace on their own & hopefully restore it yourself. All areas, buildings, items, quests and characters are randomly generated. You will find unique lands & challenges. I hope you enjoy it! "Just want to say again that this is a great game! For those of you who feel like its a minecraft copy just beacuse of the cube textures used you really need to rethink what a game is about! The game play of 3079 is nothing like minecraft it is pretty unique as well as how the weapons all have diffrent stats and colors kind of reminds me of Borderlands. However it is still an original idea for a game and i still play it from time to time. You should at least try the demo and if you like it please buy it and support fruit! :D Still give it a 9/10 ! I've been playing for quite some time, and haven't had any issues. However, recently my save game started stuttering heavily. Every 3-4 seconds I'd get half a second of 0 FPS. The only thing that's changed between then and now is that I hosted a multiplayer game with a friend and he gave me a bunch of items he collected (I think he used the /goto command to go out to a level 48-51 area to collect them for me)

The game is nearly unplayable like this.

Here is my save game (Link may 404 until Dropbox finished uploading completely.)

Edit: Upload completed, link is live.

Edit 2: I created a new save, but the stuttering remained in this new save. Reinstalling the game completely didn't fix it either.

A few updates after some testing.
I've cycled through all the graphics settings, and the stuttering seemed only slightly better (Lasted a shorter time) when I had it on Basic, Tiny Render Distance. That said, the stuttering remained with this setting.

In addition, in an attempt to get an error, I continued play for several minutes. My attempt succeeded, and gave me a clue to where the stuttering originated.

I've tried several times to allocate more ram to the Java Virtual Machine, but have been completely unable to reduce the stuttering, no matter what I do. Adding the launch parameters to Steam's Launch Parameters dialog makes the game unable to start. Adding it directly to Java has no effect. I do not know how to add it to the game's .jar, or I'd have tried that.

Please tell me how to fix this.

What operating system are you on? Vista / XP / 7 / 8?

Also, have you uninstalled all older versions of Java, and installed the latest from Java.com ? It should be Java 7 update 45+.

I did recently make a change that runs the 3079 JAR directly, which fixes the "Play Time" problem with the Steam client. However, I'm thinking this may have introduced some other bugs like the ones you are experiencing now. I'm hoping that making sure you have the latest Java version can resolve it, though.

Let's keep in touch, I want to get this fixed!

Windows 7 Home Premium, Version 6.1.7601, Service Pack 1, Build 7601

According to the Verify Java Version thing, I have the latest Java already, though the Java Control Panel says I'm way back in J7u17. I'll go ahead and install the offline version of J7u45 64-bit, hopefully that'll help something.
I do not have any copies of jre6 installed.

I have to restart my computer to apply J7u45, after that I will run the game and tell you what happens.

I am typing this update from my Nintendo 3DS. When restarting my computer to apply the J7u45 update, it failed to start. My computer is now running Startup Repair, and I do not know if or when I will be able to get on it again.

Update 2: My computer has successfully started. The stutter is greatly reduced, but still persists. If I'm not moving around a lot, the stutter is nearly nonexistent, but as soon as I start exploring, or god forbid use a fighter, it reappears. I think it's something to do with the chunkloading, because the faster/more I move around, the more the game stutters.

Update 3: Turns out a startup program was still running and hogging 15-20% of my computer's resources. The program has calmed down, and 3079 runs seamlessly now.

Hrm... can you try uninstalling that Java 7 update 17..?

How about the "heap space" error? Do you see that anymore?

I changed how the game is launched and this problem should be resolved.

The game is running seamlessly, and I played for a few hours yesterday (My longest session to date), and did not encounter any crashes. I did notice a few short spurts of stuttering, but they were brief (Only two or three 'hiccups'), and spread apart, and did not affect my gameplay.
