Metal takes place in source 2. Currently, with my limited experience, I'm creating some basic levels depicting what kind of conditions the player will be experiencing in this horror story, but first, Metal is the name of a game that takes place in a seemingly infinitely large sunken and dilapidated submarine. This will take place in its very own universe and even though, currently unless suggested otherwise, this is taking place in Half Life Alyx, this will have nothing to do with Half life at all, we're just using the game for the engine. This will be completely in VR. I am an experienced 3D artist and I'm going as far as making every asset and texture myself for its own story, up to guns and npc's. I just need help with said guns and npc's working in the engine. I know how to animate, rig, and make my own textures professionally in a manner of speaking.

Metal will not be a generic horror game. Well, it won't be like a garry's mod horror game where you find a note on the ground and a blinking light. You will not find notes left by a faceless distant helper to tell you what to do. The motivation will be the story telling of the environment and the mystery that lays around you. You will look around at the equipment, see how old it is, what language around you is being used? All of these in consideration will be clues to the time in which this story is taking place. In Metal, the player will start off in a communications room in a puddle of moldy unknown black goo. All communication equipment will be from the 1940's era and will be noticeably unusable. Not only had they been sparking, but have been there long enough to stop sparking and just become scraps of what they used to be, beyond repair. Navigating themselves throughout the game, the player will explore the submarine and find clues as to what happened, and will find out that they were kept alive by a highly anomalous virus that allowed them to stay alive through a century long coma. They will discover several indications that this submarine was crewed by conscripts enlisted in the Russian military. During gameplay, the player will soon find a tt-33 pistol, common among the Red Army in WW2 using 7.62×25mm, a very plentiful ammunition in that time. Russian government has found this anomalous current North of Russia. A previous location they labeled grounds for nuclear experimentation, now behaving, in their words, bizarre. so they built this ship packed full of inexperienced security and decent researchers to go investigate. They were defeated within hours by horrible entities they had no way of knowing would be there. Mutations that go against reality. Who were just looking for the perfect inhabitable sealed dry land which these poor researchers delivered on a golden platter. These creatures had just over 100 years to evolve into cave dwellers.

The player will encounter creatures and entities that will behave unlike anything living among an ecosystem that would have any reason to behave this way. Scary and cruel for no reason, likely formed from the mere existence of evil. Next in this thread there will be examples of creatures we have made.

Here are a few common encountered creatures I came up with so far:

Vent Face: Vent Face is a very unwelcoming smiling lump of red gushing meat with no eyes taking up the entire square perimeter inside a vent. Will be very luminescent in the dark. Player will have a 50/50 chance of seeing the creature when turning around a 90 degree angle corner while crawling through a vent. To counter this creature, the player will have within a second to look away, if they fail, the player will be stripped of their flashlight and will be left with the anticipation before the same face zooms in from the center of the screen from the dark to kill you with a first distant, and last second ear piercing jumpscare noise.

Unnamed whip thing: My friend made this one. Is a shiny black whip scorpion looking thing. The submarine is pitch black with no power what-so-ever, so these creatures evolved with no eyes. This whip thing has a single flat blade like tentacle it extends back and forth to smell, like a snake. To attack the player, you guessed it, it whips the hell out of you. Will take around 2-4 shots to kill it.

Hall face:...Will rather keep this a secret for now.

Ice Stake Tentacles: Two jointed ventablack tentacle columns that will aggressively swing up and down preventing the player to pass. These won't be killable.

XXX1: - Basically an airborne visible red/orange/yellow/white gaseous virus that turns any living thing inside out in a bubbling painful death. It's wholesome, really.. Player will need to find a wearable gasmask to navigate through areas filled with XXX1. Gas mask will be some kind of ww2 soviet gasmask.

XXX2:... Will rather keep this a secret for now.
