the file itself or whats in it, because it is empty. am i missing something?
If you run ScrumbleShip.exe , stdout.txt should become filled with text.

yeah thats what i mean when i run it stdout is still empty i've re downloaded the game a few times, and it still hasnt worked
If you're using this version of the game and getting zero output from stdout.txt, something is wrong enough with your computer that it's having trouble running standard executable files.
I don't think I can troubleshoot that effectively via comments. If you'd like to hash it out interactively, punch the purple "irc" button on scrumbleship.com.
