This is a daunting endeavor, but I believe that together we may succeed.

The Trading Game is an online (MMO) 2D retro style trading game. Players evolve in a vast and complex 2D world with only one goal: Profit.

This Game shares many similarities with the TF2 economy: players will get random item drops, and will be able to trade their items with others through the Steam trading service. One main difference is that Players will not be able to buy items on the Steam Market.

Gold, Silver and Bronze coins will be the currency of the game. They will be purchasable for irl money on our store in-game. Those that want to evolve faster can buy currency that way.

Gameplay: Players get items through random drops, trade and buy other items from other players, resell them for profit, expand, get richer and richer and richer. They can buy cosmetic items, houses, furniture and land. Also, some areas of the cities will be restricted to certain levels of wealth. The idea is to recreate an economical experiment on a large scale and to make a fun game where people can train their business skills or simply have fun. Players will themselver set the prices of goods through offer and demand.

World: The world will be Earth today. Players can move between different major world cities to trade, each city hosted on a permanent server. Players can buy and sell houses and land with certificates tradable through the Steam trading service.

Style of the game: Top Down Retro 2D (like Pokemon). The houses will look complex and rich and may have more pixels than Pokemon. But they should look retro and a bit pixelated nonetheless. The world should feel pixelated for the retro feeling but may have more pixels than games like Terraria.

Notable necessary Implementations: the Steam trading service.

Kickstarter: Once we have some core prototype, we will make a video and ask for funding on Kickstarter. None of that money will go to us: all will go into server expenses and other related game development expenses.

We will give the players the tools to have fun. Gameplay and user interaction is what will make this game great. Every player will strive to become the richest player of The Trading Game.

TL;DR: 2D online (MMO) retro game based on our world where players buy and sell items (trade) for profit between eachother with the Steam trading service. Players can buy items, houses and land, show off their wealth. Also a social and economical experiment. Kickstarter, success, glory. Join us !

Devotion: 8-16 Hours a week. Project lasts from 15th September 2015 to 15th September 2016.

Possible future enhancements: Once the Core Concept described above is implemented, we could expand on that basis and add PvP areas, quests for precious items, PvE and much more. The Team will decide together the direciton of the project one the Core Concept is implemented.
