We wanted a game that focused not just on interpreting the world, but changing it. The Highest Council is designing an experience where you are blind and need to interact with the environment to see. The result is Ballad of the Blind Chordsman, a 2D Action Platformer that uses echolocation.

You play as the Blind Chordsman, a warrior who battles with a sonic keytar. After a devastating battle robbed him of his sight, the Chordsman turned to music to light his world. Now he must face his old band of heroes and save music.

In this game the player is almost entirely blind and uses sound to see, whether it comes from his keytar or the environment itself. The game features combat that focuses on enemy stealth, and platforming that focuses on editing the terrain. The player will experience the story through metaphorical gameplay that allows the player to experience what it’s like to be blind.

Your role will be to create and implement any coded features within the game. These include Core Platforming Mechanics, Enemy A.I., Shaders and anything else. The bulk of this games coding will be interacting with Shaders so be prepared for that.

Being a startup, we have no money to pay our employees, but we plan to Kickstart once we have a vertical slice. When that happens we guarantee you will be paid before us and everyone will be paid an even cut.
