Open rooms might not have made much sense to some, at first. Truth is, it still might not. Though Open rooms is now starting to become more of what i hope it will be. To make this happen, open rooms needs and online structure.
Version 0.2 is the beginning of the multiplayer structure. Which now allows players to visit other players rooms and chat. When you visit the room you will see the room as it last looked by the host. If you want to host your room online it's as simple as loading your own save game. You'll automatically be setting up a online session anyone can join. In future versions you will be able to change if your game is accessible or not.
My next goal is to get actual changes to the room to translate to all other players. Only room owners will have the ability to change and design their own rooms. Then i can start to think about characters of some sort. Something i haven't yet thought about.
Version 0.2 is available to download and is free during early access so there's no excuse to not try it out for yourself.

Alright! You were not kidding when you said that an update would come soon :-) I'll have a look tonight when I'm home.
Thanks for the great work!
Cheers.
It's the start of the multiplayer structure, it's not all too exciting yet. Non the less i wanted to get something so people can see the direction of multiplayer!

Hey iDev,
To be honest, I don't see this adding anything new or real useful :(
I hope v1.0 will feature some interesting stuff, and checkout Croquet / OpenCroquet, it's really very much the same, and gave much more freedom. I've checked out the website, but I wasn't able to find more info on the plans, do you have some list of features or plans for the project?
it does and it doesn't. Making this multiplayer is a huge task. Which i hope to have done for version 0.3. I'm tackling the most difficult features, which in a state like this can also be considered pointless. At the moment if you didn't join another players room and chat, you would have noticed nothing changing. All will make more sense soon. Don't worry thing's like more objects will be in before 1.0 release. You should then appreciate the work i've done in these early stages more. I'll make more information available soon. I'm just incredibly busy at the moment, though don't worry. Things will become more clearer soon i hope.

Alright! I'll keep an eye on your development anyway :) I LOVE apps like these as you may have noticed by now ^^
The multiplayer aspect can be tricky I can imagine, though the old, and I mean, OLD, DirectPlay libraries were easy to use, I have no idea how these are in DXStudio but I hope the same for you. Ok, those aren't optimal libs but easy to use and unlike claims of others, I say it's stable. Not sure why those libs have a reputation of being unstable.
Well good luck with development, interesting people are always busy, that's why they're interesting ^^
I am removing myself from Moddb, my projects are not very welcome here and the ones I was able to uploaded, well nobody cares for those. I won't be following your project anymore but wanted to wish you good luck before leaving.
