Second Question?
The Community-Based Project. What Combat System would you like? E.g. TBS, Real-Time? What direction should we take the game? E.g. Magical, Scientific?

hahaha, IM FIRST! Make it a hybrid of Science and Magic. But not the ****** type like steam tanks more...Energy swords and floaty boaty Tanks that shoot purple shells or something like that. Also Real time PLEASE.
I TAKE IT ALL BACK! REMAKE WZ2100!
Well I would have to say that in terms of direction, you really shouldn't go for scientific as there are easily enough fantasy's out there already, but in terms of combat systems I can only say that it shouldn't be nearly as complex as tori-bash as that was a horrible system I thought.
Hm... RTS, and some sort of technomagic, but mostly on the sci-fi.
I mean - normal tanks, normal rifles, normal plane...Howewer ifranry with energy swords and shields (Hi, Halo), maybe sky ships and some people with ability to throw fire/tunder/etc.-bolts.
It's going to be a RPG ;)
Real time FPS/RPG (dues ex). Make it scientific with mechs and super soldiers. Think crysis meets mechwarrior meets dues ex meets the newest Hulk movie. Soldiers strong and fast enough to actually hurt mechs in a one on one fight. Biological and mechanical upgrades. Multiplayer can be capture the point DOD style gameplay.
also whats up with the akward dancing in the videos.
awkward lmao xD its called personality what you see here is not for the camera im like that all the time xD
Do we play Pen&Paper here? No!
So a REAL-TIME combat system please!
I would choose Lt.Romic's direction(the fantasy and science thing).
Yeah, sadly there wasn't much steampunk-support, it's kinda underrated.
But I also really like sci-fi, so that's OK.
I for one would really like a 'traditional' turnbased combat system, but I think most people like real-time a lot better.
As for the 'direction', I've been writing a sci-fi/steampunk/fantasy RPG myself in which one of the factions is focused on 'science' and another is focused on 'magic'. I don't know if something like that is an option?
Else I'll have to go with scientific.
third person/RPG with sci-fi/steampunk
Combat System:
- Real-time with pause (or real-time but not fast as hack & slash). This system is in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic:
Direction:
- scientific
PS. And I think a good idea is the story taken from District 9.
Imdb.com
What do you think about a unofficial, fan game?:) Sample plot: in year 2010, humans copy technology of the "prawns" (race of extraterrestrial creatures from movie) and in 2030 humans can travel faster-than-light. Spaceships from Earth are flying (with mission to discovery) to planet of the "prawns" . Highly intelligent "prawns" damage the spaceships of humans, and large group of humans are landing and stuck on the planet of "prawns". You must, as a human, escape from the planet of prawns. The story in game is a opposite to story from movie.
Real-time. Turn based are too slow moving. I would say lean more toward scientific because WoW has kinda already taken over the magical idea of games.
Tactical fps rpg for singleplayer that happens in present times.
RPG (already decided), don't know whether it should be first or 3rd person, 3rd person games are a lot more work on the animation system side of it.
And I'd prefer a technological/scientific as compared to the magical, or some kind of technomagical(magically enhanced, somehow) sci-fi RPG.
Zombies could be cool too, although hard to do right.
i vote for technology (wtf its SCIFI! that should be out of questioning)
and realtime
I think real time sci if should be done along with scientific because with scientific you could also implement technomagic by saying that maybe all inhabitants of the universe have nanobots in them and then maybe a engineer learned how to manipulate them or something. Also I find real time a bit more interesting than turned based because it brings some skill into the game but that's just my opinion though. Well whatever ends up getting picked good luck with your project. ^^
