This demo will allow you to play through a tutorial that explains the features of the game and lets you play with them.
Im so excited to finally put out this Feature Demo. I look forward to the feedback, so I can improve the gameplay as I move forward with production of the main game. This is my first foray into the Game Making World, but don't take it easy on me. I need as much criticism as possible so that I can put out the best product that I can.
7-20-2014 Update
Fixes
- Heroes that don't use MP no longer have it as a stat that grows when leveling
- Battlebacks have been adjusted so that heroes were no longer walking on the background
- Fixed reward for completing quest
- Fixed battle animation for poison
- Fixed random encounters in tutorial dungeon that caused crash
Changes
- Berserkers and rouges now slightly gain TP each turn
- Battle Animations added to Berserker and Rogue combo skills
Pros:
-I'm a big fan of RPG Maker and use it myself.
-Nice work on the ATB system, as well as the quest screen. I've never played around with either but have wanted to for awhile.
-Gathering system seems interesting, but the game kept crashing before I got out of the dungeon.
Bugs:
Level Up Screen:
The Hero gains MP on the level up screen but doesn't have any.
Party Visual:
The Witch joins your party and is already following you, but the NPC sprite is still in front of you talking. (Same with Berserker and Rogue)
Battles:
-The battlebacks need to be moved slightly, having the hero walk on the wall looks weird.
-The Combo system you have with the Beserker drains all of your TP even if you don't use an attack. (Doesn't do it on the Rogue)
-Skeleton boss didn't have an animation for poison
Whenever I got into the fight with the 2 bats (not sure what the 3rd enemy was), it crashed. This happened both times I was leaving the dungeon, I didn't try a 3rd time.
Cons:
TP:
The TP generation needs some work, it looks like you're using the one that's built in, which isn't very good. It's to reliant on getting hit to do damage, if the Beserker or the Rogue don't get hit or evade, it turns into 5-6 rounds of them doing auto attacks.
Built in RTP:
Using the hero sprites as well and enemies that come built into the game tends to be a big no-no when it comes to commercial projects. Most (if not all) people will dismiss the project completely based solely on that.
Thank you for all of you feedback, I will be working on fixes as soon as possible. and will have an updated file up later on tonight. Also the RTP characters are just used for the tutorial and will be different for the actual game. I am not much of an artist so I plan to have this demo and the first chapter I release by myself be a way to hopefully gain some help with the art assets of the game.
