In 2001 a buddy of mine came up with the idea that the two of us and a second childhood friend would make our own Megaman game. He also came up with a few robot master names for the game. I was all for this and drew some pixel art for the robot masters (some of which I've still used for the game and can be viewed on the header of this page), and later on some concept art. But nothing really became of the project, until four months ago when a number of different occurences led to me creating a Megaman engine in GameMaker 8.1.
I was unsure whether I had the skills and the motivation to go on and create all the stages for the game, but here we are four months later and the game is almost complete. Eight robot master stages, five Wily stages, 31 unique enemies (which I think is high for a Megaman game), two playable characters, 4+ Wily bosses and more.
All that is left to be done is the music, which has proven a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. A couple of people are working on the music but it's still going slow and I really want to finish the game as soon as possible so I can move on to my next project. After more than a week of trying to get composers one song is done which is not really where I wanted to be at this point. Because of this I'm going to try to make some music myself. One of these days...
I also wanted to mention something that comes up when I show the game to people. Capcom do not go after fan games legally, in fact they can't, so there is no need to worry. The fan game community is quite thriving in this time when Capcom have given up on the blue bomber.
