Roleplay as one of the characters of the Pokémon world in this online game with alot of unique features that will get you addicted for the next years!

Posted by on

Hello PWO! This year we have been focusing in completing some more complex gameplay changes and features, as seen with the previous big update where I remade the entire science related gameplay approaching the game into the final desired design of it, but this month is finally time to go ahead with our tests and break through the final design approach of the breeder mechanics!

Keep in mind this is still a test, when I say “final” its toward the design idea, but you should expect alot of small changes here and there to adjust whatever issues and unbalance we find in our tests in the future. Keeping all of this in mind lets point foward our first changes:

⊖ Newbie Breeders
Well, we are all newbie, so we should start talking about the early steps of a baby breeder:
on the base (older) gameplay of a breeder alot of hours/days afk were required to be able to get properly started (to get the items and enough friendship to get eggs etc) and then alot of active grind to hatch hundreds of eggs etc to make the effort worth it. Well forget all of that:

Now that you are a breeder and want to start your career first thing you should do is Study and get your skills: you want Pet and Hide. (yes feed ration skill is gone)
Thats all you really need to start your adventure if you are brave, but if you are carefull (should be) I advice you go do some workout and increase your trainer’s health to survive against those dangerous beasts!

⊖ Hide:

The new skill is the key of Wild Interactions, but you will understand what I mean with that in the future, first lets talk about the mechanical aspects of it: This can only be used in battle, and is a physical leap (Not jump) of 2 tiles, then theres a rng chance your trainer succeed into finding a hiding spot: If this happens the Angry wild pokémon in a battle will start looking for you. (lets call it Search Mode).
While you are hidden you will be able to use the “Hidden Skills” that will allow you to interact with pokémon in multiple different ways, however if the wild pokemon in searching mode approach your hiding place theres a big chance they will find you and get back to the Angry mode! If this happens you will need to find another hiding spot!

As you can imagine, Hide is a great skill to survive in wild and dangerous places, giving a trainer a huge mobility and of course keep them safe for a few turns giving you alot of escape chances!

⊖ Make Noise:

The first skill useable in Hidden mode, Make noise will lure the wild pokémon to a relatively near spot to your hideout. If the pokémon reaches the position they might end up finding items like what we used to find on trees, those important resources will be key feature for your wild interactions. You can keep using this to make the wild pokemon gather a bunch of usefull items for you, but keep in mind if they end up crossing your hideout path they might find and attack you! So be wise!

If you want whatever the pokémon have collected it might be time to consider jumping out of your hideout and sendouting your pokémon to get into a battle! If you manage to defeat the pokémon they will drop a nice loot ! You should focus on edible items first as you will need them to go further on interacting with wild pokémon!

Edible items:
Tiny Mushroom (30% eat chance)
Big Mushroom (50% eat chance)
Lucky Egg (70% eat chance)
Mystic Seed (40% eat chance)
Charcoal (10% eat chance)
Stick (30% eat chance)
Pink Tail (90% eat chance)
Roots (25% eat chance)
Moss (20% eat chance)
Energy Root (40% eat chance)
Revival Herb (40% eat chance)
Toxin (25% eat chance)
Mineral (2% eat chance)
Berry (35% eat chance)
Honey (50% eat chance)
Ration (70% eat chance)
Poffin (80% eat chance)

⊖ Throw Food:

Now that you have edible items, and want to increase your bonds with those dangerous creature, its time to learn how to feed them! Once hidden select an item from your iventory and use Throw Food, this will throw the item to a relatively closer position to your hideout (be carefull as lured pokémon might end up finding you!)

Once the pokemon reaches the item, they will grab it and may eat it (check the item’s eat chance). This will change the pokemon State into “Eating”, on this state they won’t move. You will have to wait patiently untill the pokémon change their state again, the pokémon might get back to the “Searching” state or to the “Playing” state.

⊖ Wild Interaction:

The ratio a Pokémon goes from eating into playing can be increased by the Rations of the same type as the pokémon up to 4x, having proper food can speed up alot the wild interactions.
Once the pokémon is playing around, you are safe to leave your hideout and go play with them! This is where you can build up wild friendship as you interact with the pokemon using friendly skills (Such as Pet and Play). Doing so you will raise the wild friendship with the pokémon (the ratio this increase is also boosted by the type rations).

There is a chance the pokémon will go into “Playful Calm” state in each interaction, if this happens the pokémon will leave the battle and stop being agressive, at this state the capture rate is higher and interacting friendly with the pokémon again will make them escape leaving the items they have behind!

If there is another pokémon in the battle with the same Evolution Tree while the wild pokémon is in playfull mode, there is a chance they will instead go into the “Dancing” mode, this chance is also increased by the boost given by rations of matching types.

Once in the dancing, the pokémon will start following their friend and will spawn heart icons (this works with two wild pokémon aswell) and while they are near eachother theres a chance (speeded up by ration boost) the wild pokémon will go into the “Dancing Calm” state.
This final mode will always result into a Wild-Hatch. Wich might end up introducing new pokémon as they both escape into the nearest route!

⊖ Observe:

Scientists are also able to learn the Hide skill, and the old “Observe” skill was renamed back to the original “Research”. Now Observe is a skill useable while hidden, using this will proc a “Research” call on every wild pokémon in the same battle, allowing scientists to safely learn about wild pokémon they encounter, while Research is used for trained pokémon or safier interactions.

A mix of Scientist and Breeder can use the three skills while hidden, allowing for a way greater usage of hideouts, for example: Observe the pokémon while they are eating for faster Pokemon Knowledge gains!
Its also worth to mention that when you hide from a pokémon you get a knowledge proc from them: being (0-3%).

⊖ Grooming, Friendship and Appeals:

Breeders new gameplay focus should make them not limited to just being egg factories: now that you know how to handle yourself on wilderness, you should consider heading back to the school and learn another Skill: Grooming.
Once you learn Grooming you will be able to also learn and decide your Appeal Specialization, choose wisely between the default ones: Cool (Atk), Beautiful (SpA), Cute(Sdef), Clever(speed), Tough(def) + customs.

Custom appeal is something earned through admin approval, and their effect is basically an offgame authorisation.

You can see/access the appeals you are specialist (and have in a pokémon) by using Show command, and its possible (right now through dev and approvals) to be specialist in multiple appeals, and an example of custom appeal effect: “Stinky: When user uses a scent move the enemy have to roll a d100, if lower then 20, they have to skip their turn” but they can be anything the breeder's creativity can come up with and the admins judge fair/logical.

If you have friendship with a pokémon, it will be shown at the Pokemon Knowledge tab, clicking the friend button will show you the exact value. Breeders can use Grooming to improve a pokémon appeal once a IC day (per pokemon) and the ratio is based on the breeder’s Wild Friendship, Pokémon Knowledge and by the Poffins the Pokémon have eaten!

An appeal’s effect just have use when the Pokémon reaches 100%!

Keep in mind that a single pokémon can have multiple appeals, and these can also be used on contest and other types of competitions that goes beyond simple battles!
(just a reminder as ratio and numbers will ofc be adjusted as they are tested)

⊖ Cooking Rations and Poffins!:

Cooking is now a database of knowledge (similar to Alchemy, Crafting, etc) with multiple possible learnable items: Ration, Type Ration (each item for each type), and Flavor Poffin (each item for each flavor).

Cooking knowledges are obtainable through a bunch of preset Auto Projects in Breeder College, and can then be teachable to other breeders as the wipe goes.
As Type Rations was explained before, they are mostly used to improve the Wild Interactions making them way easier to gather wild friendship and wild hatches, Poffins are used to improve the daily earning of a Pokémons appeal.

The amount of appeal boost a pokémon will receive depends on the amount of poffins and their liked flavors based off the pokémon nature!
Poffins can also be sold to factories as recipes and mass sold on shops!

⊖ Obtaining Eggs:

Farmers now have their gameplay changed, as the method of obtaining eggs are removed directly from the Wild Interactions, and now its based off on Farmed pokémon:

When a farmer uses Farm-Cares on a pokémon of an egg group they are specialist into, and they know atleast 50% about said pokémon, they will be trusted 2 eggs (3 if you are with the ranger boost). This can be used once a IC day per farmer and per pokémon.
This changes moves obtaning eggs further on to the mid-game, the new eggs also have a way lower parent ratio (I ended up getting a new flying pokémon on my second egg)

ps: Farmer cares doesn't raise wild friendship anymore
