After finishing a long-term Will Wright associated project as the Lead Designer, Sina Jafarzadeh founded inochi.life in May 2016 to pursue smaller-scoped artistic games about various themes of life. Inochi (命) is the Japanese word for life, which also reflects the creator’s admiration for Japanese culture and way of life, especially the Japanese dedication to one’s work and the attention to detail. Throughout the process of creating the first title “a dream? – a poetic experience”, the aspiration became stronger to create experiences that are hyper-personal reflections and expressions of past and current experiences of game’s auteur. By playing the game the player should get a feeling about personal experiences, interests and personality of the game’s auteur. In a sense the ambition became to create interactive game experiences that can be compared to the way musicians create individual songs as personal expressions, rather than just a game about innovative mechanics.
