Everything is started with C64. I started coding with BASIC, then 8-bit assembly, and usally my projects ended with a ?LOADING ERROR when I tried to load back my program from a cassette. I even had to make my own assembly-compiler. Then I got a 486 25MHz pc with 3megs of ram and started my Turbo Pascal adventure with the awesome Vesa2.0 graphics. Since the last 10+ years I'm happy with C/C++ (and D3D).
