Level Designers located Anywhere.

Hello !

We're a small indie team currently working on our first game, and we're looking for a level designer in order to help us in the development. Our current goal is to make a fully functional demo before the end of the year, and release updates regularly until the game's story reaches its end.

About Us

We've been working on this game for about 8 months now. We're all volunteers in the team, and some of us even have a job on the side. Therefore, there are no deadlines to this project and the schedule is very lax. You can work at your own pace but communicating frequently is appreciated, at least for feedback purposes.

We use collaboration tools such as Trello or Figma, and have a Discord server for both discussions and meetings. Half of the team members are French, but they all speak basic or fluent english so it won't be a problem.

About The Game

Morphing is a 2D adventure platformer that takes inspiration from other indie games, like Hollow Knight or Undertale. You play as Shin, a creature that lost its memories and mysteriously acquired new powers. You will go on an journey to find out what happened to him, and attempt to save the continent from a growing threat.

The main feature of this game is that Shin can transform into 3 different characters, and switch between them at will: a Knight, a Ranger and a Mage. They all have their own skills and play styles, so you will have to use them wisely in order to solve puzzles throughout your adventure.

The game features exploration and combat in large 2D levels, similar to a metroidvania but much more linear and accessible to casual gamers. We would like to have 15 levels in total, 2 of them being for the demo.

Speaking of the demo, we're planning to release it on Steam for free. However, once the game gets enough content, you will have to pay for it. All the revenue will be shared with the team members, depending on their implication in the project.

What To Expect

You will be working with the game designer, and your tasks will be the following :

• Give ideas during the pre-production phase

• Create detailed layouts of the levels (on paper or digitally)

• Manage placement of enemies, mechanisms and rewards

• Discuss environment design with the artists

• Build the levels in Unity
