Job Description: As a Level Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing, creating, and implementing engaging and visually stunning levels for our upcoming large-scale project, as well as contributing to smaller side projects. You will collaborate closely with the art, design, and programming teams to ensure seamless integration of level layouts, gameplay mechanics, and overall player experience. Your creative vision and ability to craft immersive and challenging environments will greatly impact the success of our games.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop compelling levels, including layout, gameplay flow, puzzles, and challenges, for our large-scale project and small side projects.
  • Collaborate with the art team to ensure the visual quality of levels aligns with the overall artistic direction of the game.
  • Implement and iterate on level designs using industry-standard tools and engines.
  • Collaborate with designers, programmers, and artists to ensure optimal level functionality and performance.
  • Balance gameplay elements such as difficulty, pacing, and player progression to create an engaging and enjoyable experience.
  • Conduct playtests, gather feedback, and iterate on level designs accordingly.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in level design.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of game design principles, mechanics, and player psychology.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard level design tools, such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or equivalent.
  • Solid knowledge of 3D level editing, including terrain sculpting, prop placement, lighting, and scripting.
  • Ability to create and communicate level design concepts, including sketches, diagrams, and documentation.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A passion for video games and a deep understanding of different genres and player experiences.

Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with scripting languages, such as C#, for gameplay implementation.
  • Experience with procedural level generation techniques.
  • Knowledge of level optimization techniques to ensure optimal performance across various platforms.
