Hello!

The Skull Jockey development team is recruiting asset artists/modelers/animators skilled in creating 3D assets, particularly low-poly models, for our debut title, Residual Blood. We're looking for artists/modelers who have had prior experience working/importing models into Unity. Prior experience with games such as modding and indie development are preferred, as well as experience in animating said models.

Residual Blood is a story-focused isometric shooter with RPG elements. It is set in the far future on the post-apocalyptic world of Obstratsky, a derelict oasis beyond the boundaries of interstellar civilization. The setting of Obstratsky itself takes inspiration from the hallmarks of Eastern Bloc post-apocalyptic classics such as STALKER and Metro 2033.

Low-poly models will be used for most of the game’s assets from the player character, to various items of clothing, to equip-able weapons and items, to the enemies, to the props and the buildings. Combined with stylized upper-resolution pixel textures, these models will help ground strong aesthetics with visually intuitive gameplay. Many of the open levels in game will be outdoors, and lighting as well as weather cycles will affect gameplay factors and thereby contribute to immersion not by realism but by atmosphere.

This is not a paid position; our current team (10 people) are driven by excitement for the project and its potential. Even so, there are plans in the works to find outside funding through crowdfunding and publisher aid. We hope to compensate our team members as contractors once we begin to receive said funding. Those who have stayed with us through development will thereby be compensated for their contribution and. Those who have not stuck with development yet who have contributed will have their contributions credited nonetheless.
