Eric Claud once slept for his cure as an ordinary man, and was locked in his dreams, together with many creatures which they carry in. From titans to frogs, from men to ghosts, all were ruled by one evil. Fully conscious in his red pajamas and yellow cloak, Eric (you) has to beat the evil, and wake up from his odyssey.

We're introducing our first game, a puzzle platformer with a twist: Waking Up Eric Claud.

Hello everyone,

We're two friends from Istanbul, Turkey, working on our first title, "Waking Up Eric Claud." We are hoping to share our progress and get some early feedback from you.

Without further ado, let's talk about the game.

"Waking Up Eric Claud" is a puzzle platformer similar to the games Braid and Limbo. As Eric Claud, a young man trapped in his dreams, you will try to wake up desperately, but here is the twist: The game mechanic differs drastically from its likes in the genre, since it will not be your actions that will help you solve the puzzles, but it's the consequences of these actions that will give you the keys to these puzzles.

For a clear explanation of what this means, let's talk about the "sleep-o-meter": The sleep-o-meter is an indicator of how deep Eric is sleeping. If your sleep-o-meter is low, then Eric is close to waking up, and if it's high, that means Eric is sleeping deeper. (when a dream is deep enough all kinds of strange things can happen ;))

The catch is, any movement on the sleep-o-meter changes something in the game world. It can be a hidden object suddenly appearing, a door turning into a passage, shadows transforming to matter, or the whole environment can change entirely and become a different reality... Just like in a dream, anything is possible.

In order to solve the puzzles you have to adjust the sleep-o-meter correctly. In order to adjust it, you have to act exactly as you would in your dreams. Fall down a cliff and you're closer to waking up, interact with dream creatures and you go deeper in your sleep.

Hopefully you will like the game, and finally I leave you with a couple of sketches that might help visualize the game a little bit better.

Sleep-o-meter

Until next time,
Sweet dreams...
