Nomis: Legacy Islands weekly update - Saturday, January 16th, 2010

We released the trailer for our game today and you can watch it below:

Since this is our first post on ModDB I'll tell you a little about ourselves. There's 4 of us working on Nomis: Legacy Islands and we all just recently graduated college and decided to put our skills to the test and make a game. We first started brainstorming ideas around August of 2009 but didn't kick it into high gear until about 2 months ago. Our goal with this game is to enter it into the DreamBuildPlay contest then on Xbox Live indie games.

I'll be doing weekly updates on Mod Db showing of videos/screenshots of the current build and we also have a blog on our website which we update on Monday/Wednesday/Friday of every week with a little more in-depth coverage.

This last week we put a lot of work into the little things that weren't finished so we could get the trailer made with as little visual errors as we could. We have the majority of the art done for the Tropical Village levels, with the enemies and boss battle being the only things not finished.
Co-op is coming along nicely with only a few issues at the moment. Adding co-op to our game has made it 10 times more fun to play test even though it added a bunch of bugs to fix.
We're making parallax backgrounds for our levels to add some detail and depth perspective in order to keep the background as interesting as the foreground.

This week we're getting the art done for the upgrade screen and hopefully finishing the Tropical Village art so we can move on to the final level, High Pass. I keep pushing it off but saving/loading is something I really need to start working on to make sure it works flawlessly.

Why isn't your game also listed as PC? If your using XNA theres no reason not to distribute a PC version as well. It looks like a very interesting project I would like to see a PC version as well.

I guess we haven't given it much thought, the original idea was Xbox only, but it's definitely something we'll look into especially if we get some interest in a PC version.
