Caveblazers is a pseudo-multiplayer platformer roguelike set in a fantasy world. Early access is planned for Q1 2016. Each playthrough will be unique with randomly generated levels to explore, and a massive amount of items, weapons and equipment.
Pseudo-Multiplayer
Caveblazers is a singleplayer game which attempts to emulate a multiplayer experience by incorporating random encounters with other "players". These "players" are AI controlled characters which behave like other players and have randomized behavioral characteristics which will depict how they interact with other players. Some will follow and help you, some will run from you, and some will be aggressive towards you. The advanced pathfinding means that these "players" will most likely be able to track you down wherever you hide. There is no escape. Be afraid.
Platformer Roguelike
Caveblazers is a modern platformer, but also incorporates some Roguelike and RPG elements:
- Procedural level generation
- Permanent death
- Randomized potion identities
- RPG-style inventory system
- Massive amount of items, weapons and equipment
- Character customization
Early Access
Caveblazers will be hitting Greenlight soon and will hopefully be ready for Early Access around March 2016. The reason it's being released to Early Access is because I want the community to be involved in the development process. Early Access supporters will have access to regular updates being released around once a month.
The first version will be a Pre-Alpha version. I'm hoping to include all of the core functionality in this version: basic pseudo-multiplayer, basic enemies, basic items & weapons. All of these features will be advanced upon in future versions. The pseudo-multiplayer in particular is something I want to continually develop to make "players" smarter and more varied.
