In Sphaera, every man, woman, and child possesses an affinity - a tendency toward talent in a particular element of magic. Some are attuned to the the destructive power of fire, and others favor the healing and life that water can bring. There are other elements as well – earth and air; nature and the arcane; light and darkness – and more, previously thought unable to be manipulated. But there are few who can not only manipulate these elements, but change their affinity at will, and the spells they can cast. These innately talented mages are called Shifters, and they are the most feared and reviled of all people.
