since this is open source, does this mean you could make a android port of morrowind?

The fact that it's opensource means that _you_ could make an android port :)

This is great. I'm glad someones finally done this. I hope Morrowind gets the same as Daggerfall XL's treatment and we see a lot of excellent new technologies being implemented in the game.

Let's all pray Bethesda releases Morrowind one day as freeware, like what they did with Arena and Daggerfall. This mod will be in the spotlight then.

I'm wondering what exactly does this do for Morrowind?

It means that they can modify the engine to suit any type of gameplay and graphical mod that previously couldn't be done using the original engine.

Tracking this this is absolutely amazing and to anyone who says Bethesda should release Morrowind as freeware I do not agree it is still one of the best RPG out there and worth buying it should stay at $20 for life.

except its likely that $20 will pay for another Zenimax Lawyer to sue someone. As much as I love Morrowind, I absolutely hate what the company has become and it does not represent the interests of the fans anymore. Morrowind should go freeware and the fans should be allowed to do what ever they want without fear of lawsuit.

I absolutely agree with you I am sick of the console port games they are releasing for the PC I mean I like how they give us mod tools like the Construction Set and the Creation Kit but they should also give us Source Codes or Source Development Kit (SDK) and I also sent a message to Bethesda's PR Pete Hines and on the Bethesda forums PC section to give us a DirectX 11 patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in future patches/updates and some PC gamers said yes and some said no or did not care about it getting added at all I will not buy another Elder Scrolls game if Skyrim does not get DirectX 11 and if these guys get sued for giving us the Source Codes because quite frankly I am sick and tired of game developers abusing us PC gamers giving us dumbed down games with little to no features that the PC is capable of having the games released on the PC should be shown in their full potential glory.

I wouldn't bother talking to Peter Hines about anything. The mans a moron. His job just involves reading what Altman tells him to (and occasionally sucking up to Todd Howard so Pete can call himself a "Game Designer").

I also agree the console greatly has held back Elder Scrolls, it showed both in Morrowind and Oblivion how bad it had gotten. Morrowind was originally supposed to be more like Daggerfall and its scope much grander, Oblivion couldn't even do Towns without the need for a load screen.. don't even get me started on how broken Radiant AI was.. Massive decline in this company, and its so disappointing. I can't forgive the devs or Zenimax for what they've become.

Morrowind got nerfed for the Xbox when Zenimax took over. I hope this open source project manages to revive what was missing from Morrowind.

I love that there is still so much interest in this awesome game! I haven't actually played it through yet - I only just got it awhile ago - but I like what I've seen so far. I also love all the incredible mods for it, because I like good graphics and this game looks ancient to me. That's why I love this project so much, because an updated engine will allow for so much more!
To those of you working on this project: Thank You!
Keep up the great work! :)

Edit: I know I just accused this great game of looking ancient, but I have played games far older than this and loved them. Anyone remember the Bard's Tale trilogy? The second one, Destiny Knight, is still one of my favorite games of all time, even though it came out it the late '80s. I also played Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM) a game without graphics at all, but ASCII art, and love it!
So it's not that I can't play a game with old graphics (in fact I've discovered GOG.com (Good old Games) and downloaded all kinds of old games recently), but after seeing Oblivion and especially Skyrim with mods, Morrowind just looks really old and I'm excited to see what it will look like with all new graphics and other improvements!
Once again, thank you guys, for doing this awesome work! :)
