The download (and screenshot) is of a tech demo made for the game in June last year and many improvements have been made since then.
The confusing aspects were taken into account during testing of the tech demo and are hoped to be ironed out before release.

All of the problem said so far have been fixed/implemented in the full release, except for that of the small images. See below for that.
To people concerning how confusing it looks:
I personally like the interface mostly how it is, and want to have small icons on a tile basis because it eases development time, especially in graphics. This allow me to add more real features. However, as of now the only way to find out what something is is by placing your cursor over it, or guessing. I suggest the first. I may add a zoom-in feature later, which would most likely help.

very confusing and didn't work that great at all i couldn't collect any items and the images where to small.
