This is a factory themed, limit-removing Doom 2 MAP01 level (with custom music for source ports that support .mp3) that is set on Earth. The goal is to reach the interior of the Icon of Sin chamber, marked clearly on the factory floor. Conceptually, this is a complex and sprawling map, and similar to Doom 2's The Citadel in that not all keys are required for exiting. To keep the map from overwhelming the player, numerous holographic signs are used to denote specific areas, such as STORAGE, WASTE PROCESSING or RESTROOMS. This, along with new graphics and a dose of Doom cute, are intended to suggest realism while maintaining Doom's maze-like tendencies.
GRAPHICS SOURCES: Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Sonic CD, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior.
KNOWN BUGS: A couple of the textures don't render correctly in Crispy Doom.
Once they reached home, their very real presence was undeniable. The smoldering buildings, the fleshy overgrowth of hives packed with hell spawn...and that unmistakable stench of acrid sulfur. As an Earth-bound trooper of the UAC's most elite squadron, you hadn't seen much action. Then, in a single breath, the entire planet was in jeopardy. Areas of significant economy and industry were the most vulnerable, suggesting these beasts knew exactly what they were doing. It was a feeling that left a lump in your throat.
Deployment of your first mission is tonight. It's a very personal moment, as this is your home town. Thankfully, the beasts have left the city entirely intact, save for the world's largest manufacturer of military grade tech. Of course it would be UAC-owned; their ass is on the line now. They must think rather highly of you to put you in charge of cleaning house.
The UAC factory is monstrous in scale, and given the small portion the beasts have made their own, is mostly salvageable. The point of focus is an Icon of Sin chamber on the factory floor, whose interior must be penetrated in order to destroy it. While guarded by both red- and blue-marked doors, only one or the other is required to progress, with the blue key being arguably more accessible, though more heavily guarded. A yellow security card can be found in one of the secured offices, and can prove quite helpful for amassing arms.
The chopper is dropping you down now. This is it.
Cool!
