Here's a super-early apha version of DungeonQuest level editor. I Just wanted to say thank you for following the project. However, saying "thanks a lot" didn't feel good enough, so I thought you'd appreciate something more interactive. In this super-exclusive and super-work-in-progress version of DungeonQuest level editor you can play, create levels, and share them with your friends!
The level editor starts in game mode, where you can play with the warrior and the elf. The game is intended for 2 cooperative players, but you can playtest it alone (it only requires a bit of left and right hand coordination).
Controls for player 1: Cursors to move, right control to attack, right shift to defend, enter to perform magic, and delete to interact (open doors, fing secret passages, etc).
Controls for player 2: WASD to move, spacebar to attack, left control to defend, left shift to perform magic, left alt to interact.
Press F5 to enter developer mode. Here's where you can create your levels. Follow the on-screen instructions to add tiles, items and lights. Press F11 to save the level in a .LEVEL file. Press F12 to load a .LEVEL file.
I have included a sample level featuring most of the elements that are implemented in DungeonQuest. Browse to the Levels folder and select BookshelvesAndLamps.level. The goal of the level is to reach the final room with both heroes.
Enjoy the editor and have fun. Please, send me your levels and any comments about gameplay, bugs, improvements or anything. I'll try to rework the issues and keep the game growing :)

Arg! It crashes?! How? After installation? What error message?
OK, I've read there's a problem with some graphic cards and the advanced features of XNA 4.0 so I have to rebuild without multiply layering. There will be no shadows in the low-res version but will be otherwise fully functional. Hope that solves the problem, ceriux ;)

Thanks for copying the error, JimJam! I'll look into the specifics of the error in the documentation.
Meanwhile, I've re-uploaded a version which hopefully will be compatible with all graphic cards. With a bit of luck, your errors will be gone with this new Reach version :)
just played the super early alpha! looks great! cant wait for next release! and unlike other people it worked perfectly fine for me without any errors.. but maybe that has to do with it being updated since then heh.. but still makes me happy!
