Overview:
Kandu Studio, based out of Betaworks in NYC, is focused on making technology more playful for today’s creative generation. We are developing a game called CHKN currently in alpha that was recently greenlit at #5 on Steam and is already generating excitement from YouTubers. The QA Engineer is responsible for testing all features and functionality of a PC game. This includes scripted and ad hoc test cases, debugging game errors in the code, reviewing discrepancies and verifying fixes are implemented. In addition to day-to-day testing and debugging tasks, you will have an opportunity to get meaningful exposure to game design, art integration and gameplay programming.
Responsibilities:
-Perform focused testing based on assigned test cases and ad hoc to provide feedback on game play related issues and identify game defects (bugs)
-Report game issues, including accurate complete steps, identification of root cause and expected results based on department standards into appropriate bug tracking system
-Regress previously identified issues in order to verify defects / bugs have been addressed and no longer occurring
-Provide thoughtful and professional feedback on gameplay issues in both written and verbal form.
-Potentially contribute to game play code and integrate game art
Requirements:
-Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (e.g., programming, game development, prior QA experience)
-Proficiency in C based languages
-Strong data structures, logic, and algorithm skills
-Good command of object oriented programming skill
-Demonstrable self-motivation and self-learning skills
-Passion for playing and creating games
-Broad knowledge of games across different platforms
-Willingness to do what it takes to get things done, a team player
-Able to follow direction and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Good organizational skills, ability to remain focused
-Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Desired Skills & Pluses:
-Good working knowledge of scripting tools and game editors, such as Unity
-Experience and understanding of networked game testing
-Good understanding of game design fundamentals
-Understanding of game analytics and applying metrics to game design
-Understanding of agile scrum methodology
