A game development studio dedicated to bring you great games!

Report RSS Oh, hello there! I didn't see you come in. My name is Mirtosky.

An introduction to the man behind the, uh... Well who knows, really?

Posted by on

Hey there, everybody! My name's Mirtosky, the other programmer on our team besides Operance. I applied to join Dark Revolver Games because I was tired of working alone and spreading myself thin working on aspects of game creation other than programming and design. I was very lucky to get a job here, and it's been great so far.

A brief summation of the programming languages I know would look something like this:
-Javascript
-C#
-GML (Deprecated in Mirtosky 18.2.01)
-HTML (Deprecated in Mirtosky 15.7.92)
-CSS (Deprecated in Mirtosky 15.7.92)

I've worked solo for a little over a decade, since I was 9 or so. Most of that time was spent with Game Maker, which allowed an easy window into the world of game programming and design. I dabbled in HTML and CSS for a little while before realising I absolutely abhorred web design. I started working with Unity a couple years ago, and have been tooling around with it since then. My most recent project besides our current Parkour project would be an Oculus Rift demo showcasing the bridge of an Imperial Star Destroyer. My favourite game in the whole wide world would be Iji. It has one of the best stories I've ever seen, and the world needs to play it.

I work primarily as a programmer here at Dark Revolver, but I also help with the design of our Parkour project. I'm really excited for this project, and I can't wait for you guys to see it in full!

As for advice for people who are new to the whole indie scene, I would say that there are going to be innumerable eggs that you will break on the way to making your omelet, and that's okay because every broken egg gives you +1 to INT or... something. The point is you'll have a lot of your early projects crumble away, but that's absolutely alright, because you'll learn something from it every time it happens.
